Energy generation with a future - decentralised and regenerative

In addition to conventional power plants and combined heat and power plants, smaller decentralized generation plants are increasingly being integrated into the distribution network. These include photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, geothermal probes, etc..

Photovoltaic systems and wind turbines represent a particular challenge for electricity grid operators: They do not generate electricity constantly. The time of generation and the amount of energy generated depend on how the wind blows and the sun shines. But also many smaller decentralised generation plants, such as small CHP units, feed into the grid independently of the actual electricity demand.
